What is it? 🫁
Respiratory physiotherapy helps with both acute and chronic respiratory problems. The therapy focuses on clearing the lungs and keeping the thorax mobile, which ensures better lung ventilation and breathing. This therapy can be applied to all age groups.
When is there a need for respiratory physiotherapy? 🫁
🔹 Persistent stuffy nose
🔹 Persistent cough
🔹 Great difficulty in removing accumulated mucus from the lungs
🔹 Shortness of breath or rapid breathing
🔹 Wheezing or rattling during breathing
What problems are treated? 🫁
🔹 Cystic fibrosis 🫁
🔹 Pneumonia 🫁
🔹 Bronchitis or respiratory tract infection 🫁
🔹 Asthma 🫁
🔹 Hyperventilation 😤
🔹 Post-operative rehabilitation 🏥💪🔄
🔹 … and more!
Respiratory physiotherapy adapted for children 🫁
With babies and toddlers, "bouncing" and deep pressure are applied on the mat to loosen the thick mucus from the lungs. With older children, deep pressure is also applied on the mat, and playful breathing exercises are given to increase lung capacity, such as jumping on trampolines, blowing through a straw, blowing bubbles, etc.
